25!!!

I clocked 25 on June 16, 2020. The days preceding my 25th birthday were surreal. I couldn’t believe I was 25. I mean, I used to be the youngest in gatherings- school, church, amongst friends, etc.

But now, I am 5 years from clocking the big 30.

I had mixed feelings about the whole thing. I was excited about turning 25 but then the reality of getting older was disturbing.

I wish I could go back to being 21 again. Asides the fact that it is impossible, I think that is me being an Oliver Twist. I have had a fairly good life and I am grateful for the experiences.

Life goes on.

Although we all feel the pressure that comes with aging, we must learn to live with it regardless. It comes with being birthed into the world. We can learn to see age as a number, maybe.

So this year, I decided to compile 25 random things on my mind for my 25th. These are lessons, facts, favorite books, and anything. I wanted to do a video recording or a podcast but laziness…

I have learned many things in my 25 years on earth but I remember these ones mostly.

I write it for me, for my 30-year-old self, for my offsprings lol and for everyone who cares to read. I want to look back on this day and know that I grew.

So here we go,

25 random things in no particular order

  1. Life is not balance. Bad things happen to good and bad people. Bad people get away with bad things. Karma only exists in movies.
  2. Do not hold on too tightly to that belief. You might be terribly and sincerely wrong.
  3. Be true to yourself. People will judge/criticize you based on their perspective/worldview.

4. You need loyal friends. If you want loyal friends, be loyal.

5. Life is based on values. Values are vibes. Walk with people you vibe with

6. Love yours… No such thing as a life that is better than yours. There are some things you cant change. Family, the past, your skin color, your race, etc. Love everything that is yours.

7. Mute people as needed. Follow people that matter. Always protect your mental space. Social media is a tool, not real life.

8. Life is just one life. Define what living means to you and start living

9. Love (Romantic love) is a gift. You either find someone who loves you or you don’t. Never force people to love you.

10. Life is hard. No one is going to drop a tiara on your head.

11. Clarity is a myth. Stop waiting for clarity because it would never come. Things only become clear as you act.

12. Maybe luck exists, maybe not. Either way, Increase your chances of getting lucky. Show up!

13. Embrace the reality of death. No one is leaving here alive

14. There is a process. Enjoy growth. Enjoy the struggles. Enjoy the journey. Time and chance happen to us all.

15. Not too many people in this world have sense like that. We are all trying.

16. Fear not! What is the worst that can happen?

17. You cannot save every evil in the world. You will burn out if you fight every injustice all at once. Find a niche you want to change and give it your best shot.

18. The world is fluid. Do not ride on the old wave. Let your mind be fluid.

Facts about me

19. Gender inequality, condescending talks about my gender makes my blood hot. As of this day, I am a proud feminist.

20. I like to think I am an ambivert. I am always alternating between being an introvert and an extrovert.

21. I love love the taste of alcohol. White wines are the best.

22. I could go for days or even months without listening to music. I love good lyrics but I just can’t sing them correctly. I never get them right. Watching series is not my favorite thing. Give me a summary in 2 hours max and cut out the suspense.

Favorite Quotes

23. That’s why we started Apple, we said you know, we have absolutely nothing to lose. I was 20 years old at the time, Woz was 24–25, so we have nothing to lose. We have no families, no children, no houses. Woz had an old car. I had a Volkswagen van, I mean, all we were going to lose is our cars and the shirts off our back — Steve Jobs. Meaning: Do crazy things while you are young.

24. 50 cent is the person I created. Soon it will be time to destroy him and become something else — 50 cent

25. Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify and vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as crazy, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do — Steve Jobs

This has got to be my favorite quote
